3rd graders’ first test tomorrow!

Hello! The third graders will have their first ever Latin test tomorrow, Friday Sept. 20th.  We’ve been practicing chanting the 1st declension noun endings just about every day, and we’ve practiced writing them down from memory.  They should make sure they are able to write it down on the test – the chanting is for memorization, but they do need to know how it looks.

The vocabulary list will be on the test as well in a matching format.  They will also have a few multiple choice sentences to show what they’ve learned in class these three weeks.  I’m excited to see how they do!

5th grade- first vocabulary quiz tomorrow!

Stage 1 vocabulary quiz will be on Wednesday, Sept. 11th.  It will be ten words, some English, some Latin, and students provide whichever is not given.  Sample:

via  = _______________________

____________ = garden

Stage 1 test will be one week later, on Wednesday the 18th. This will include vocabulary, the grammar chants, and grammar questions.

Grammar chant review- 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade!

These are some of the basic grammar chants used in 3rd and 4th grade.  We memorize them in 3rd grade, and again in 4th grade (with the addition of a few others), and in 5th grade, (with another addition of a few others!).

Any time you need to brush up, try to do the chant along with me here, or try writing them down and check the spelling on the document at the bottom of this post, or study guides throughout the year.  Students should all know how these are arranged and I encourage them to use their fingers to visualize the arrangement of the chant.  Ask them to show you!
